Detroit Lakes High School homecoming royalty, athletic teams and clubs paraded down Washington Avenue on Friday for their annual homecoming parade.
The street was lined with supporters and plenty of kids eagerly awaiting handfuls of candy as the flatbeds, trailers and other vehicles made their way down the main roadway in Detroit Lakes on Oct. 1.
This year's homecoming King and Queen are seniors Nate Cihak and Abbee Traurig, who were crowned in a ceremony at the school on Sept. 27.
Other Princes and Princesses of the 2021 royal homecoming court are: juniors, Justine Riewer and Tyler Haus; sophomores, Cocoa Knowles and Marv Mai; and freshmen Isla Pender and Tommy Suckert.
Many of the Lakers sports teams followed behind the football team's flatbed to the cheers of supporters.
Floats from local businesses, like BTD and KDLM, and other community organizations, such as the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center, also made their way down Washington Avenue at the end of the parade.
The Lakers football team defeated Pequot Lakes at Mollberg Field 32-6 on Friday night during their homecoming game behind a four-touchdown performance from senior Christian Solberg.
