Instead of opening gifts on his 10th and golden birthday March 10, Ridge Scolley gave the ultimate gift.
The Frazee boy died after suffering an injury over the weekend, according to his family's GoFundMe page.
Ridge was playing basketball with his cousins "when he lost his balance and hit the back of his head," according to the page. He was flown to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, but it was determined that his brain could not recover. His parents, Michael and Shannon, and siblings, Clara and Troy, decided to donate his organs after his death, according to the page.
The GoFundMe is to help the family with the medical and funeral expenses: https://www.gofundme.com/f/scolley-family-memorial-fund-for-their-son-ridge .
There is also a T-shirt order open until midnight on Sunday, March 15, to further help with expenses and to remember Ridge at scolleyfamily.itemorder.com/sale .
