The ninth annual Holmes Art Show starts Thursday, Nov. 15 and runs through Saturday, Nov. 17 inside the Historic Holmes Theatre Ballroom. Submitted Photo

The ninth annual Holmes Art Show, featuring fine arts and crafts, will be held in the Holmes Ballroom Nov. 15-17.

Artists will display paintings, sculpture, glasswork, collage and more.

The show is free and open to the public. Hours are Thursday, 5:30-7 p.m., Friday, 12-7:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The popular artist's boutique is back with holiday gifts and items perfect for anyone on your list.

The Art Show is part of the BTD Community Connections series at the Holmes Theatre.

Some of the artists include: Fern Belling, Connie Bruse, Joe and Karla Cummings, Philip Holtan, Danika Leitheiser, Colleen Maloney, Carmen McCullough, Becky Mitchell, David Norstad, Jerry Schutz, Sharon Treiglaff- Jons, Gus Claymore, featured artist Todd Voss and more.

Once again this year, the attendees will be asked to vote for their overall favorite artist. This artist will become the featured artist in marketing for the 10th annual Holmes Art Show in 2013 and will be invited to display their artwork at the Holmes Theatre throughout the year.

Thursday night, Nov. 15, celebrated Navajo artist and educator from Kansas, Dennis Lee Rogers, will be performing in the Holmes Theatre at 7 p.m. This performance will include DL's drum and dance team and is free and open to the public.

Friday, Nov. 16 after the art show, the Caravan du Nord, through the Minnesota Music Coalition, will be back for another concert. This evening will feature headliner Mason Jennings, Detroit Lakes native Caroline Smith and her band The Good Night Sleeps, and DL's own Hardwood Groove.

The fun starts at 7 p.m. in the Holmes Theatre. Tickets for this performance are $5, thanks to 89.3 The Current. This show is underwritten by Lakeshirts, and is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.

The Lakes Area Community Concert Band will close the Art Show on Saturday, Nov. 17 with their 7th annual fall concert, starting at 4 p.m.

Though there is no admission charge, free will donations will be gratefully accepted to support the band's activities. This show is als part of the BTD Community Connections series.

Also on Saturday, Nov. 17, the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center will host a free Stage Combat Class from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aaron Preusee- actor, teacher and fight choreographer, will be putting on this free workshop for anyone ages 16 and up.
