LP-A group raises money with 'Paws for Cause'

Lake Park Audubon FCCLA-Family Career and Community Leaders of America members Sarah Johnson, Jenna Seley and Typhanie Schafer, raised funds for the Lakes Area Humane Society through a fall high school dance and movie night.

After visiting with the shelter director and reviewing the shelter's "wish list," the members decided to help make some of those wishes come true by shopping for items that the shelter needed. Loading their shopping cart with essentials, such as dog food, kitty litter, bleach, raw hides, and a few dog treats, the three students delivered the items to the Becker County shelter.

In addition to helping with wish list supplies, the members have become regular volunteers at the shelter.

"It is a really great feeling knowing that we can make a difference in the lives of these animals," stated junior student Sarah Johnson.

FCCLA advisor Cheryl Hogie added, "perhaps the best residual result of the student project is the enthusiasm and passion that has sparked in these young adults. Whenever they come back from the shelter, they can't wait to share about their positive experiences."
