Piano students of Audrey Savig, Audubon, will compete in the 82nd Annual Minnesota Music Teachers' Association (MMTA) Preliminary Piano Contest. It will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, at the First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes.
Students competing in the Preliminary Piano Contest are:
Pre-Primary Division: Jarrett Stelter, son of Vicki and Scott Stelter, Detroit Lakes
Junior A Division: Brianna Clem, Primary Division, daughter of Tonya and Ed Clem, Detroit Lakes; Marissa Thompson, daughter of Jenna and David Thompson, Audubon; Seth Felker, son of Becky and Sean Felker, Audubon; Madelynn Thompson, daughter of Jenna and David Thompson, Audubon

Students entering the piano contest have an opportunity for growth in knowledge, performance skills, poise, the sheer fun of making beautiful music, maintaining a positive attitude, and dealing with deadlines.
Student winners of contest preliminaries advance to perform at finals held at Ferguson Hall, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis on March 13-14. Pianists with the highest scores in the Contest Finals are selected for ensemble performance in the State Honors Concert.
This concert involves 700 young performers, playing on 20 grand pianos in ensemble groups, and will be held in June at the Northrop Auditorium, University of Minnesota.
