This year's Street Faire marks a return to form for the 22-year-old event, which was moved to August last year due to pandemic precautions.

DETROIT LAKES — The Street Faire at the Lakes has been the kickoff to the Detroit Lakes area's summer season pretty much every year since it started in 2001 — excepting the past two years, when pandemic precautions forced a 2020 cancellation and a 2021 scheduling move to August.

This year, however, the festival is returning to form.

"We're back to the first Friday and Saturday after Memorial Day again," said Street Faire organizer Rachel Hofstrand.

To celebrate, the festival is bringing in more than 100 vendors to fill the streets of downtown Detroit Lakes on both Friday and Saturday, June 3-4.

"We have 100-plus arts and crafts booths, plus 14 food vendors," Hofstrand said.

The food will range from familiar favorites like Oof Da Tacos and Cafe Aladdin (Greek food) to new fare like Filipino cuisine and a booth serving up freshly made coffee, smoothies and blended teas.

"We'll have a good variety of food there," Hofstrand said, adding that the Eagles Club will once again be providing a beer garden, next to the food court.

The arts and crafts vendors will be a mix of old and new, though the "new" will be a bigger portion of the total than in years past.

"We have 30 new artists this year," said Hofstrand, adding that "fluctuations caused by COVID " have caused some Street Faire regulars to bow out.

"There's a new stained glass artist," she said, "and we also have a charcuterie board vendor who's new, plus jewelry, bath and body products, photography, pottery, home decor, woodworks, pre-packaged foods, pet products, iron works and so much more."

There will also be kids' activities on both days of the Faire, courtesy of Historic Holmes Theatre Visual Arts Coordinator Courtney Stanley — and then, of course, there's the live music.

Street Faire favorites like Tim Eggebraaten and Hardwood Groove will be joined by a few new acts, like Big & Hungry and Blue Red Roses.

The music schedule on the Street Faire Stage (next to the beer garden, outside the Eagles Club on Holmes Street) is as follows:
