Leroy John LaCrosse Jr., 41, of Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony third-degree controlled substance crime and a felony firearms violation.
According to court records, on Oct. 25, a Detroit Lakes police officer found him parked near a residence near the Shorewood Pub, asleep or passed out behind the wheel of a Chrysler 300 sedan, with the driver's door open.
He declined to do field sobriety tests, was eventually arrested, and a search of the car turned up a pink taser and a wooden box containing a .22 caliber Ruger revolver with a spare wheel. Approximately 4.22 grams of substance that field-tested positive for the presence of both heroin and cocaine was also found.
LaCrosse was previously convicted of several drug charges and third-degree assault, and is not allowed to possess guns or ammunition.
On Oct. 27, cash bail was at $30,000 or bond at $30,000, under standard conditions of release, or bond at $60,000 bond with no conditions. Lacrosse posted a $30,000 bond and was released Nov. 10.

West Fargo man charged with felony in theft from DL Walmart
Michael Vincent Ertelt, 37, of West Fargo has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony third-degree burglary.
According to court records, on Sept. 27 he was involved in the theft of $1,025 worth of merchandise from the Detroit Lakes Walmart.
On Dec. 30, Ertelt missed his first court appearance and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Audubon woman accused of possessing 8 Lorazepam pills
Jean Marie Jacobson, 37, of rural Audubon has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, in October a trooper pulled her over in Detroit Lakes for not wearing a seatbelt. A marijuana pipe was in plain view, and a search of the vehicle revealed eight Lorazepam (anti-anxiety) pills.
On Dec. 30, Jacobson missed her first court appearance and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Waubun man accused of leading officer on vehicle chase
Anthony Randal-Ashley Villebrun, 42, of rural Waubun has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.

According to court records, on Oct. 23, he fled from a White Earth tribal police officer who tried to pull him over for speeding in White Earth village and County Road 21. The officer at one point attempted a PIT maneuver to force Villebrun to a stop, but he laid on the brakes, then drove down a dead-end street.
Once he reached the dead-end, he drove around to the back side of a residence and down a steep hill to get back on to Highway 34. He drove through the Powwow Grounds and into the woods, where he was caught after a short foot chase and had to be subdued with a taser.

On Dec. 30 a request for a furlough to go to chemical dependency treatment at Sharehouse in Fargo was approved.
Park Rapids man accused of home break-in, felony assault
Zachary Norman Holland, 27, of rural Park Rapids has been charged in Becker County District Court with two counts of felony first-degree burglary and one count of felony third-degree assault.
According to court records, at 3:40 a.m. on Oct. 19, he kicked in the door of a residence near Osage, hit a man there with something made of glass, then assaulted him. The man told a deputy that he woke up because a dog was barking. The door was broken to gain access. The man had welts and cuts on his face, and Holland admitted to the assault. A woman was also assaulted there: Holland allegedly grabbed her head and threw her towards a wall, according to the criminal complaint.
On Oct. 21, District Judge Michael Fritz set bail at $2,000 or bond at $20,000, under standard conditions of release, or bond at $50,000 bond with no conditions. Holland posted a $20,000 bond and was released Oct. 26.
Detroit Lakes man charged with felony domestic assault
Patrick Michael Defoe, 19, of Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with two counts of felony domestic assault.

According to court records, on Oct. 18 he allegedly punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach, stepped on her toe and punched her repeatedly in the leg. He denied the assault. On Oct. 21 a warrant was issued for his arrest.
