Court news: House search in Detroit Lakes turns up 67 grams meth

On Aug. 31, during a search of his house, 11 grams of methamphetamine was found on the floor near the bed in a bedroom, 24 grams of meth was found between the bed mattresses, and 32 grams was found in a closet.

Craig Ryan Schwoboda, 43, of Detroit Lakes, has been charged in Becker County District Court with two felony counts of first-degree controlled substance crime.

According to court records, on July 8 he sold 29 grams of meth to a confidential reliable informant with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.

On Aug. 31, during a search of his house, 11 grams of methamphetamine was found on the floor near the bed in a bedroom, 24 grams of meth was found between the bed mattresses, and 32 grams was found in a closet.

A total of approximately 67 grams of field-positive methamphetamine was found during the search.

Dec. 6, Schwoboda posted a $15,000 bond and was released with conditions. His next court appearance is a Dec. 27 omnibus hearing.

Detroit Lakes man charged with DWI after rolling his vehicle

Aaron Tyler Jordan, 26, of Detroit Lakes, has been charged in Becker County District Court with gross misdemeanor DWI.

According to court records, on Sept. 5 a Becker County deputy responded to a report of a man walking down Highway 10 in Becker County. The man, Jordan, was bleeding from his head and had other injuries. He told the deputy he was “drunk” and had been drinking. He also said he had been assaulted.

Later that day, another deputy responded to a report of a vehicle rolled over. Nobody was inside, but there was a lot of blood in the vehicle. The area where Jordan had been walking along the highway was a short distance away.

A state trooper met with Jordan at the hospital and he admitted to driving the vehicle and crashing it. He said he had three to four Budweisers.

On Nov. 30 a summons was issued for Jordan to appear in court Jan. 27.

Local man, woman face charges after caught with fentanyl pills

Two people face felony drug charges after being caught with a type of pill that had been “involved in multiple overdose deaths involving fentanyl.” according to the criminal complaint.

Jordan Michael Windel, 31, of Detroit Lakes and Larissa Joy Dyrud, 25, of Lake Park have both been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.

According to court records, on April 18, local law enforcement responded to the Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes due to a 911 hang up in a guest room. Officers knocked on the door and Windel opened it. Dyrud was in the room behind him.

Officers separated the two to investigate any possible emergency, and one saw Windel trying to hide something under the mattress. Without altering or moving anything, the office saw a clear glass pipe and prescription bottle sticking out from the mattress.

The prescription bottle contained two small blue pills inside. The pills had a “M” on one side and “30” on the other. Law enforcement was aware that these types of pills were involved in multiple overdose deaths involving fentanyl. A small amount of methamphetamine was also found under the mattress. Dyrud and Windel admitted the drugs were theirs.

On Nov. 30 a summons was issued for the two to appear in court at a later date.

Lake Park man faces gun, drug charges

Nicholas George Savig, 38, of Lake Park, has been charged in Becker County District Court with a felony gun violation and felony second-degree controlled substance crime.

According to court records, on Sept. 1 local law enforcement executed a search warrant on his residence in Lake Park. Approximately 37 grams of methamphetamine was located near an ATV belonging to Savig, and he admitted the meth was his. A rifle was found in his bedroom. He was convicted on a fifth-degree drug charge in 2016 and is not allowed to have a gun.

A warrant was issued Nov. 30. On Dec. 3 he was released on $20,000 bond.
