Crime and fire report: Woman assaulted in a vehicle in Detroit Lakes; Frazee man arrested for assault involving a phone

On Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 3:57 p.m., near the intersection of County Road 21 and Rice Lake Road, just north of Detroit Lakes, a 25-year-old woman reported she was hit in the face by a 25-year-old man while in a vehicle. The incident is under investigation. Also on Wednesday, at 6:25 p.m., on the 30000 block of Pleasant View Road, Frazee, a 39-year-old woman said she was struck in the face by a phone that was thrown by a 35-year-old man. No medical transport was needed and the man was arrested.

Monday, Dec. 13

7:18 a.m., near County Road 144 and 230th Avenue, Detroit Lakes, garbage bags were reported on the roadway.

8:36 a.m., 300 block East Main Street, Detroit Lakes, scam. The caller said they gave more than $1,000 to the scammer.

4:06 p.m., at Menards at 1465 Menard Drive, Detroit Lakes, parked vehicle damage.

4:17 p.m., 400 block Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, parked vehicle damage.

5:32 p.m., 200 block east Willow Street, Detroit Lakes, a black 2008 Pontiac G6 was stolen.

8:02 p.m., 800 block Washington Avenue, Detroit Lakes, about 20 fake calls for pizza delivery were made.

9:55 p.m., 25000 block 260th Street, Callaway, a freezer door was cut with a knife by a disgruntled resident.

Tuesday, Dec. 14

10:22 a.m., at UPS at 1045 13th Avenue, Detroit Lakes, drug related. A suspicious package was reported.

10:44 a.m., 600 block Main Avenue, Callaway, theft of checks reported. The checks were cashed.

11:02 a.m., 400 block James Street, Detroit Lakes, past-action domestic assault. A male party suffered minor injuries. The incident is under investigation.

12:37 p.m., at Essentia Health St. Mary’s at 1027 south Washington Avenue, Detroit Lakes, a patient experiencing mental health concerns made verbal threats. The situation was resolved. No arrest was made in the incident.

12:40 p.m., 400 block Robin Street, Audubon, multiple vehicles were egged by unknown parties.

4:18 p.m., 300 block east Frazee Street, Detroit Lakes, two-vehicle crash. No injuries.

6:15 p.m., 1100 block south Washington Avenue, Detroit Lakes, two-vehicle crash. No injuries.

8:17 p.m., near 180th Street and Big Dog Road, Audubon, a vehicle struck a deer. No injuries.

Wednesday, Dec. 15

6:00 a.m., near Highway 59 and County Road 22, Detroit Lakes, a vehicle struck a deer. No injuries.

1:28 p.m., at Menards at 1465 Menard Drive, Detroit Lakes, parked vehicle damage.

1:43 p.m., at Menards at 1465 Menard Drive, Detroit Lakes, multiple bad checks were passed. The case is under investigation.

1:47 p.m., 100 block Holmes Street, Detroit Lakes, a vehicle windshield was damaged while parked on the street.

2:29 p.m., 1000 block Lake Avenue, Detroit Lakes, two-vehicle crash. No injuries.

3:34 p.m., 1000 block West Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes, past action, a vehicle ran into a garage causing damage.

3:57 p.m., near County Road 21 and Rice Lake Road, Detroit Lakes, alleged assault in a vehicle. A 25-year-old woman claims she was hit in the face by a 25-year-old man while in a vehicle. The incident is under investigation.

4:46 p.m., 20000 block Leona Beach Road, Rochert, text message scam. No information was exchanged.

6:25 p.m., 30000 block Pleasant View Road, Frazee, assault. A 39-year-old woman said a 35-year-old man threw a phone and it hit her in the face. No medical transport was needed. The man was arrested.

8:26 p.m., 17000 block Otto Zeck Road, Detroit Lakes, suicide related. A 20-year-old woman was making self-threats and was transported to a nearby medical clinic for evaluation.

8:59 p.m., near Highway 59 and Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, single vehicle crash. No injuries. A tow was required.

9:56 p.m., at the Becker County Jail at 1428 Stony Road, Detroit Lakes, drug related.
