Karlie Bruns’ six goals weren’t enough for Morris-Benson Area to snap the Detroit Lakes girls hockey team’s winning streak on Tuesday night.

The Lakers (3-4) had another big night from its leaders in a 12-7 win over the Storm (0-5). After trailing 3-1 midway through the third period, Kaydence Thorsteinson, Rhett Zima, Emma Coley and Madison Olson combined for five goals to take a 6-3 lead.

Hadlee Justesen’s first goals of the season regained a three-goal lead before Adisyn Strand and Halley Stattelman put the Lakers in front for good.

Midway through the third period, Coley scored her fourth goal of the game for the fourth time this season. As of Wednesday, she is tied for second in the state in goals with 19, trailing only Kamryn Van Batavia of Luverne. Coley has scored in all seven games for Detroit Lakes this season.
