The morning was for the runners and the afternoon was for brats, beer and fun for the kids as Detroit Mountain hosted Mountain Fest 2022 in Detroit Lakes on Sept. 24.
The staff at Detroit Mountain Recreation Area began hosting a monthly gathering in December, for female entrepreneurs in the lakes area. Since then, the Women Take the Mountain event has evolved into a once-a-month opportunity for women to relax, socialize and try out some activities like yoga, crafts, wine and beer tasting and more.
The Saturday, July 2 concert at Detroit Mountain Recreation Area included music by headliner Jake Owen as well as openers John Morgan and George Birge and a gathering of four area food trucks to cater to the crowd.
Another winter at Detroit Mountain Recreation Area has come to a close. The mountain's final event of the season was held this past Saturday, March 26 — the 8th annual Pond Skim brought out more than six dozen skiers and snowboarders to test their skills at skimming across a 75-foot man-made pond at the bottom of the slope.
