MAHNOMEN — Michael Carbonaro, comedic magician and host of truTV's "The Carbonaro Effect," will perform live at Mahnomen's Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center this Friday, June 22 at 8 p.m.

Tickets start at $20 and are on sale now. They can be purchased by phone at 1-800-313-SHOW (7469) or via the "Buy Tickets" tab on Shooting Star's Facebook page:

Carbonaro's interest in magic began as a youth. In high school, he routinely performed tricks in off-Broadway shows. With a natural ability to entertain audiences and an enthusiasm for hidden camera magic, Carbonaro went on to study experimental theater at New York University's Tisch School of Arts.

With a talent in magic and acting, Carbonaro landed a gig on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," in 2003. His 11-year performance as the show's "Magic Clerk" allowed Carbonaro to routinely carry out magic tricks on unsuspecting customers. Carbonaro's recurring spotlight on the late night show opened the door for his career, moving forward to be featured on top shows, including "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "CSI: Miami," "30 Rock" and "Grey's Anatomy."

In 2014, Carbonaro launched his own television series, "The Carbonaro Effect." Carbonaro's hidden camera show is filled with illusions, intense tricks and practical jokes, often leaving his unsuspecting participants confused and his at-home audience laughing.

Carbonaro has been named both "OUTFEST Best Actor" and "Magician of the Year," the latter honor coming from the Academy of Magical Arts in 2015. In 2016, Carbonaro was awarded the "Copperfield Prize" for his art of magic. After entertaining audiences on-air, Carbonaro is now taking his bizarre antics live across the nation on his tour, "Michael Carbonaro Live!"
