Ultima Gaming will be opening its doors for the first time in its new Detroit Lakes location on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The store has operated in Perham for the past three years, making a transition into Detroit Lakes in September. In a previous Tribune article, owner David Jopp said the move was due to the challenges of operating in a small town.

"There's a whole lot of days with no one in," Jopp said. "There's a reason stores like this are typically in large, metro areas."

Although Detroit Lakes is not a metro area, it is almost triple the size of Perham. Jopp hopes this change in location will bring more customers; the new retail and gaming lounge space has been quadrupled to accommodate for it.

The new Ultima Gaming is in Washington Square Mall. The grand opening starts at 4 p.m., and the store will be open daily after that.
