The Cultural Center in New York Mills will host Finnish fiddlers Teho this Thursday, June 13 in its listening space, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Teho is a fiddling duo from Finland featuring Tero Hyvaluoma and Esko Järvelä, top-notch names in the Nordic folk music field and cross-over freelancers without genre boundaries. They have played together for years in various different bands and projects, including the long-running and popular Finnish band Frigg.
Teho breaks musical boundaries while remaining strongly rooted in tradition. Their music combines fluently Finnish traditional pelimanni fiddling, Norwegian halling, Swedish polska, bebop, western swing, and contemporary folk music. Improvisation also plays a big part in the duo's sound.
Tickets for Teho are $12 in advance or $15 at the door, students $5. Visit kulcher.org or call 218-385-3339 for advance tickets. Complimentary snacks and a cash bar will be available.
