'Fair to poor' hunting prospects expected for upcoming North Dakota waterfowl season
GRAND FORKS -- Duck and goose hunters in North Dakota who have grown accustomed to skies full of birds over the past several years likely will have to lower their expectations this fall, a Devils Lake biologist predicts.
North Dakota’s regular waterfowl season opens Saturday, Sept. 25, for residents and Saturday, Oct. 2, for nonresidents.
“It’s going to be fair to poor,” predicts Mark Fisher, biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Devils Lake. “That’s not to say there aren’t ducks. The ducks are probably going to be associated with big water – Lake Alice National Wildlife Refuge and Devils Lake itself.”
Pfizer/BioNTech say data show COVID-19 vaccine safe and protective in kids
Sept 20 (Reuters) — Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE said on Monday their COVID-19 vaccine induced a robust immune response in 5 to 11 year olds, and they plan to ask for regulatory authorization as soon as possible to use the shot in children in that age range in the United States, Europe and elsewhere.
The companies said their two-dose vaccine generated an immune response in the 5-to-11 year olds in a Phase II/III clinical trial that matched what was previously observed in 16-to-25 year olds. The safety profile was also generally comparable to the older age group, they added.
Haitians turn back to Mexico as U.S. takes aim at Texas migrant camp
CIUDAD ACUNA, Mexico, Sept 20 (Reuters) - Hundreds of Haitians returned to Mexico from a sprawling migrant camp across the border in Del Rio, Texas on Monday, fearing expulsion to their homeland as U.S. authorities organized flights back to Haiti.
The camp under a bridge spanning the Rio Grande is the latest flashpoint for U.S. authorities seeking to stem the flow of migrants fleeing gang violence, extreme poverty and natural disasters in their home countries.
The first flights carrying migrants landed in Port-au-Prince on Sunday from the Del Rio camp arrived in Haiti on Sunday, with at least three more due to make the journey on Monday, according to flight tracking website Flightaware.
