NORTHWEST WATER CARNIVAL

A new Miss Northwest and Miss Northwest's Outstanding Teen will be chosen on Sunday, Aug. 14, following a competition set to begin at 2 p.m. on the stage of Detroit Lakes Middle School's George Simson Auditorium.
Dozens of costumed pets and kids paraded down Washington Avenue in Detroit Lakes as part of the 86th Northwest Water Carnival on July 16. Dogs also showed-off their skills to junior royalty judges at the subsequent pet show in City Park.
On Sunday, July 17, the final day of the 86th Northwest Water Carnival, big crowds showed up for the annual Parade of the Northwest and a grand finale show by Bald Eagle Water Ski Shows out of Centerville, Minn. The water carnival's co-admirals said attendance was very high for most events during its 10-day run, which began July 8.

More than 100 competitors participated in the Xtreme Tippy Cup and beach soccer events during the 86th Northwest Water Carnival in Detroit Lakes on Monday.
