WE FEST

Organizers of the WE Fest country music festival, which wrapped its three-day run at Detroit Lakes' Soo Pass Ranch on Saturday, are already busy gearing up for its 40th anniversary celebration in 2023.
In total, 389 emergency calls were placed to county dispatchers since Aug. 5. By comparison, 273 emergency calls were placed last weekend during the Becker County Fair. Since Aug. 4 at WE Fest: 9 people were arrested; 24 individuals cited for minor consumption; and six transports to the hospital were required.
The stops around Detroit Lakes included drug arrests, driving while intoxicated citations and speeding tickets.
"We’ve been advised by authorities to clear the stage area and audience due to incoming severe weather and high winds," WE Fest posted on its Facebook page. "Please return to your campsite or vehicle."

Thousands of country music fans gathered at Soo Pass Ranch, outside of Detroit Lakes, on Thursday for the annual WE Fest country music festival, which runs through Aug. 6. Country music superstar Jason Aldean headlined the first night's music, which also included performances from: Chris Janson, Blanco Brown, Elvie Shane, and Hitchville, throughout the day.

“One year, LoCash plugged in and played,” Betty Sipe said. “There were maybe 300 or 400 people here for that concert,” Mike Sipe added. “It was great.”
