MnDOT expects to release bids this week (Sept. 19-23) and hire a contractor in 30 days. Logging would begin in November.
A proposed Minnesota Department of Transportation construction project on busy Minnesota State Highway 34 east of Detroit Lakes has some property owners there asking the department to scale back the plan. The reason? As part of construction, trees too close to the road are scheduled to be removed. MNDOT says the move could help clear ice from roads that are often in the shade.
Hwy 200 remains closed between Mahnomen and Roy Lake for road construction, with through-traffic detoured to Highway 59, Highway 113 and County Road 39.
Selective logging to begin after Nov. 1
The Minnesota Department of Transportation will resurface and make repairs to the Interstate 94 bridge in southwest St. Cloud in Stearns County. Drivers will encounter reduced speeds and one-lane traffic, in each direction. The work begins Wednesday, Aug. 31, and is expected to be completed in mid-October.
The U.S. Bicycle Route System is a network of numbered cross-country routes. There are over 18,000 miles of such routes in 31 states. The bike routes use existing paths separate from car and truck traffic, as well as roads, preferably ones with bicycle lanes or wide shoulders.
