Three people from Missouri were killed Thursday evening in a crash west of Willmar. Another person from Missouri was seriously injured, according to the Minnesota State Patrol, and a semi driver from Raymond also suffered injuries.
Two vehicles collided on U.S. Highway 71 west of New London early Sunday in a fatal crash. The Minnesota State Patrol closed the highway for several hours to investigate the crash and clear the road.
Jared Danielson, 31, of Audubon was not injured and was taken to the Becker County Jail on an active warrant. Other charges are pending, according to State Patrol spokesman Jesse Grabow.
Minnesota officials said they already devoted additional resources to Minneapolis and the surrounding area this spring in response to concerns about violent crime.
The pilots were able to continue flying to the St. Paul airport, and emergency medical services and troopers provided medical aid to the injured pilot.
At one point after the West Central Drug Task Force attempted a traffic stop, a Minnesota State Patrol trooper and an Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Deputy discharged their handguns, fatally striking a white male in the vehicle.
The settlement stems from a lawsuit the ACLU and several journalists filed against the patrol following racial justice protests in Minneapolis in 2020 and 2021.
