Gymnastics: Detroit Lakes takes fifth at Lakeville North

The Detroit Lakes gymnastics team took fifth at the Lakeville North invite on Saturday behind a second-place all-around finish from Gabby Whitworth.

The Lakers posted their highest team total of the season at 140.95. Whitworth’s all-around score of 36.85 was good enough for second place in a loaded field. She took second on the floor (9.55) and seventh on the bars (9.05). Whitworth posted a 9.25 on the vault and a 9.0 on the beam.

Jerzie Horner took seventh overall on the vaults with a 9.35. She also had an 8.9 on the beam and a 7.9 on the bars. Elsie Ratz had a nice day with a 9.05 on the floor,8.75 on the beam and 8.15 on the bars. Ava Morrison also scored in three events. She put up an 8.75 on the floor, 8.1 on the vault and 7.7 on the bars.
