There may be just two more concerts on the Historic Holmes Theatre's spring concert schedule, but that doesn't mean the theater's staff is taking the summer off. Three summer theater camps for children will be held, along with some free theater workshops, art classes and the annual Tuesdays in the Park summer concert series at the City Park.
The Red River Model Train Show was held Saturday and Sunday, April 30-May 1, at Detroit Lakes' Washington Square Mall, drawing 'fairly steady' crowds, according to organizers. It was the 35th year for the show in the Detroit Lakes mall, which was started by the late Jack Norby, a longtime member of the club.
Though she will be leaving her position as executive director of the Historic Holmes Theatre at the end of July, Amy Stoller Stearns says it wasn't a lack of job satisfaction that prompted her to move on from the job she's held for 20 years. Rather, she's excited by the challenge of taking on a leadership role in a new, soon-to-be-announced local nonprofit.
"Croce Plays Croce," a unique tribute by A.J. Croce, son of the late folk singer Jim Croce, will be presented Friday, April 29 at Detroit Lakes' Historic Holmes Theatre. The 7:30 p.m. concert will feature music by both A.J. and Jim Croce as well as some of the songs that influenced them both.

For almost as long as there has been a Historic Holmes Theatre, Amy Stoller Stearns has been at its helm. But at the end of July, Stearns will be leaving her post as the theater's executive director. She plans to take on a new role as leader of a soon-to-be-formed nonprofit organization.
Earth Day will be celebrated in communities across the country this Friday, April 22. In Detroit Lakes, there will be an environmental fair hosted by the public library, starting at 10 a.m.
The armbands will be used for pretty much all services offered on site, from admission to the campgrounds and concert bowl to food, beverage and souvenir purchases. Other improvements to this year's "WE Fest experience" have been made to the main stage, VIP hospitality and seating areas.
Detroit Lakes Public Schools will present the 56th Annual All-City Band Festival's grand finale concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12 in the Lakeshirts Fieldhouse at Detroit Lakes High School. Tickets will be available at the door.
Legendary rock group Pink Floyd reunited on March 30 to record their first original music since "Division Bell," released in 1994, to support Ukrainian singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk, of Boombox, as he cut his U.S. Tour short in order to return home to fight against the invasion of his home country.
The five-day festival will feature over 80 films of various lengths, including some shot in the Northland.
