Benefit a great cause while treating yourself to an afternoon at Richwood Winery.
The third annual Toast to Tamarac blends entertainment and philanthropy on Friday, Sept. 27.
The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m., and is hosted by the Friends of Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge.
Nancy Olson, one of the organizers for the event, said, “profits from the event will help support the environmental education program at Tamarac Wildlife Refuge, which connects children with nature.
“Children just don’t get outside anymore,” Olson added.

Proceeds from the fundraiser help to fund transportation for fieldtrips, while providing learning activities for youth in kindergarten through third grade.
According to statistics from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Tamarac boasts over 258 species of birds and 50 species of mammals, in addition to the beautiful lakes and variety of vegetation.
Proceeds from the fundraiser, along with designed curriculum, help to annually connect around 3,000 local youth with these abundant resources.
“It’s an awesome cause,” Olson said.
“We’re a good partnership,” she noted of the pairing of Richwood Winery and the Friends of Tamarac.
This partnership will be represented with a commemorative wine glass provided at the event by the winery.
A wine tasting and delicious appetizers will also help to make the afternoon and evening memorable.
Live musical entertainment will be provided by the David Ferreira Trio.
