DETROIT LAKES — Local residents who would like to be part of a fun holiday show at the Historic Holmes Theatre are invited to audition for 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,' which will be presented at the theater on Dec. 2-3.

The Barbara Robertson play is described as "a heart-warming holiday comedy," where a couple is unexpectedly thrust into staging the annual Christmas pageant. They meet a group of siblings, described as "the most inventively awful kids in history," when they audition for the pageant. "Mayhem and hilarity abound, yet in the end, the true spirit and mystery of the Christmas story, and the season's joy, ring more clearly than ever," according to the press release describing the production.

Auditions are set for Sunday, Oct. 2, starting at 1 p.m. There are many roles, for children of all ages, and several adult roles (most with "a very light line load," according to the press release) as well, including the main couple, Grace and Bob, who have significantly larger parts.

Those who prefer to work behind the scenes are invited to become part of the backstage crew, including the costume team, sets, props, etc. Rehearsals begin Saturday, Oct. 8, though most actors will not be needed for every rehearsal.

Two performances of the play are set, for Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m.
