Art show, high school musical and more: Detroit Lakes has a busy, snowy weekend

DETROIT LAKES — Despite the snow that made travel around the lakes area a bit more challenging this weekend, there was plenty to see and do in Detroit Lakes.
The final weekend of "Shrek, the Musical" at Detroit Lakes Middle School's George Simson Auditorium brought smiles, laughs, cheers and even a standing ovation or two. Bravo to the cast and crew from Detroit Lakes High School.

The 19th Annual Holmes Art Show also brought steady crowds to the Historic Holmes Theatre Ballroom on Thursday, Friday and Saturday — including the three ladies who took the stage at the Holmes Friday night for the Wild Angels tribute show.

Speaking of that show, Pamela McNeill, Aimee Lee and Mary Jane Alm rocked the house with outstanding performances of hits from some of America's most iconic female singer-songwriters.
The Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 show, "Wind Angels: The Women of Rock, Pop and Country," at Detroit Lakes' Historic Holmes Theatre was very well-attended.

Everyone from Janis Joplin to Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks to TLC, Lynn Anderson to Miranda Lambert, and recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Dolly Parton and Pat Benatar all had their turn in the spotlight, to the enthusiastic appreciation of a packed Holmes Theatre.
