“Aida,” a timeless love story, returns to the Detroit Lakes Public School stage in November.

Inspired by a Verdi opera, the Elton John-Tim Rice pop opera tells the story of an enslaved Nubian princess and a handsome Egyptian captain who fall in love despite the differences between their countries and their stations in life.

Auditions for “Aida” began Tuesday and will continue through Friday, with callbacks scheduled for Saturday.

Dance practice is also underway this week, with dance auditions scheduled for Saturday morning. Auditions are open to Detroit Lakes students grades 6-12.

Audition materials to practice including script cuttings and songs can be picked up at the Detroit Lakes High School Commons in front of the Main Office.
