Patrick Thiel of Fargo is the latest local contestant to spin the wheel. He appears during the game show's "Great American Cities" week.
Like many other local contestants, Thiel tried out to be a contestant during a June "Wheelmobile" event in Fargo. He said his name wasn't drawn at the event, which thousands attended.
"My spirits were kind of broken when I saw how many people were at Scheels Arena," Thiel says. But he later got an e-mail he was selected for the second round of auditions. Thiel taped his episode in early November. He said he's eager to see the episode.
"I remember the event happening, but it's almost like it's not real yet until it shows up on TV," he says.
Thiel and his wife, Haley, weren't able to take a trip after their wedding, so he may use his winnings to go on a belated honeymoon. Thiel couldn't discuss his winnings until after the episode airs.
Matt Hanson of Fargo won more than $20,000 in cash and prizes in an episode that aired Feb. 21. Shauna Vistad of West Fargo and Elizabeth Weisbrich of Fargo appeared on the show in January. Vistad took home $14,800, and Weisbrich took home $5,350.
Another local contestant filmed an episode last week and will appear in a few months, says Leslie Jacobe, publicity and promotions for "Wheel of Fortune."
The game show airs locally at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 4.
