From Halloween fun to Duke Ellington: Here's what's going on around the area today and this weekend

Halloween happenings in the area begin tonight with a carnival hosted by the Audubon Fire Department and Auxiliary at the Audubon Community Center, from 4 to 6 p.m.

There will also be a Haunted House at the Old Pine Point School on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.; and Trick or Treating at Emmanuel Community in Detroit Lakes on Sunday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The Speak Easy and Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes will be hosting some spooky celebrations on Saturday night as well.

Tickets are still available for tonight's "A Tribute to Duke Ellington" at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes. This concert will feature 16 of the lakes area's best musicians along with guest vocalist Naomi Wawers of Fargo. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and if you don't have your tickets yet, the box office will be open for two hours prior to curtain time.

On Saturday, the Lakes Lifestyle Expo for Women takes place at the Holiday Inn, 1155 Highway 10, Detroit Lakes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring speakers and demonstrations throughout the day.

The Sugar & Spice Craft Fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Frazee Elementary School, and that evening, the Detroit Lakes Eagles will host a charity auction at the Eagles Club, 112 W. Holmes St.

Sunday festivities will include the Patriot Assistance Dog Masquerade Gala at the DL Holiday Inn from 6 to 10 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Patriot Assistance Dog program in Becker County.
