EEA Chapter 1498 coffee

Local EAA Chapter 1498 pilots and aviation enthusiasts get together each Saturday morning for coffee and rolls at the Detroit Lakes Wething Field terminal. Come for good conversation and plenty of flying stories. If you have an interest in learning how to fly or an aviation career, come visit the group.

Pancake breakfast

The Knights of Columbus sponsors a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.

Youth fishing contest

Floyd Shores sponsors a youth fishing contest on Big Floyd, Middle Floyd and Little Floyd. It is open to all youth 18 years and younger and includes grandchildren of the lake residents. Fishing starts at midnight and weigh-in is from 3-4 p.m. at Pete Mathison residence at 20340 County Road 131, southeast side of Big Floyd.

WOT picnic canceled

The Detroit Lakes Women of Today Community Picnic scheduled for July 1 in the DL City Park is being postponed due to a scheduling conflict.

Shoreham Chapel

The Shoreham Chapel, Lake Melissa, service is at 10:45 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship. Special music is by Jane Capistran, violinist, and Ron Capistran, brass instrumentalist. Everyone is welcome.

Overeaters Anonymous, Serenity Group

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

High Mileage Club

High Mileage Club meets the first Tuesday of each month in Community Alliance Church, DL. There is a pot-blessing meal at noon, followed by a time of sharing birthdays and anniversaries, a Bible Nugget and special music. This is an inter-denominational fellowship for all those 55 and over.

Women's Bridge Club

The annual Lake Eunice Boat Parade will meet in the middle of the lake at 11 a.m. If you have any questions, contact LeAnn Grabow.

Melissa/Sallie boat parade

The Annual Lake Melissa/Sallie Association's July 4th Boat Parades begin at 10:30 a.m. sharp. Lake Melissa boats are to meet at Shoreham/Chanel; Lake Sallie at Maloney/Michaelson residence, proceeding clockwise around lakes. Homeowners are encouraged to decorate their docks, homes and properties in celebration of the 4th. Traveling trophies will again be awarded for various categories of decorations -- boats and people.

Long Lake boat parade

The Long Lake Boat Parade begins at 3 p.m. Decorate your water craft any way you like. Meet at the public access and travel from there to the north and around the lake. The MAC-NAPS distribution is from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The NAPS part of the USDA food program is for seniors 60 and over with limited funds. Stop in and see if you meet the federal guidelines; applications are available at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

Red Cross swimming

lessons

Red Cross swimming lessons are taught at the Vergas City Beach on Long Lake. They are July 9-20, Monday-Friday. Registration will take place at 10 a.m. on July 9 at the Vergas Community Center. No one will be turned away. There will be lessons on the 9th. Each lesson is 30 minutes in length. In case of inclement weather, lessons will be held at the community center.
