NEW YORK MILLS - The Lions International Peace Poster Museum Exhibit will remain at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center upstairs gallery through Tuesday, March 18.
The exhibit consists of 24 posters in a variety of media including pastels, paint, and colored pencil. The 24 posters were selected to represent the 350,000 posters submitted to the 2006-07 Lions International Peace Poster Contest by young people ages 11-13, from every continent except Antarctica.
Students at New York Mills Elementary School are participating in the 2007-08 contest, now in progress.
Also on display at the Center through March 29 are the woodcuts, oil paintings, and wildlife sculptures of Fergus Falls native Charles Beck. One of the most highly regarded artists working in Minnesota, Beck is making his debut at the Cultural Center. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday,10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The pubic is invited to an artist's reception in Beck's honor on Friday, March 7 from 6-8 p.m.
On Saturday, March 8, the Platte Valley Boys will perform a bluegrass concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Cultural Center. Tickets are $9 in advance (call 218-385-3339) or $12 at the door.

There will also be an Artists' Forum at the Cultural Center on Wednesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. Bring current works to share with others.

n Ballroom dancing for adults with Carrie Ann Pollard: Fourth Tuesdays, 7 p.m.
n Guitar lessons with Chris Frost: Tuesdays, 3:30 p.m.

Great American Think-Off
The 2008 Great American Think-Off question asks, "Does immigration strengthen or threaten the United States?" Entering the competition is easy. Just submit an essay of 750 words or less by April 1.
