Turkey and pork roast and meatballs, oh my! A number of Detroit Lakes area churches are holding fall fundraiser dinners in the coming weeks, serving up various menu items and options for dining in-person, at home via take-out, or both.
Funds raised at the dinners will go toward church operations or charitable causes within the local community.
Following is a rundown of fall church dinners the Tribune was aware of at press time:
On Saturday, Sept. 11, from 4-7 p.m., Richwood Lutheran Church (located 9 miles north of Detroit Lakes on Highway 59) will be holding a pork roast. The supper will include pork roast, potatoes and gravy, glazed carrots, coleslaw, buns, lefse, a dessert and beverages, at a cost of $13 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12. Kids 5 and under eat free. Dine-in and take-out meal options will be available.
On Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 4:30-7 p.m., the United Methodist Church in Detroit Lakes will hold a drive-thru-style meatball supper, with ‘to go’ meals only. For $10 per meal, diners will be treated to two meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, a dinner roll and dessert. The church is located at the corner of Corbett Road and Pembina Trail.
St. Andrew’s Catholic Church of Hawley will be serving turkey and all the trimmings at its 2021 September Dinner. Assorted salads and desserts will also be served. This in-person event will be held at the church on Sunday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost for adults is $15, and the cost for kids ages 6-12 is $5. Kids 5 and under eat free. Local charities will receive 15% of the dinner’s proceeds.
