Local students serve as orientation leaders at BSU
Kassandra DuChene, Detroit Lakes, and Jessica Dalen, Lake Park, were among 28 Bemidji State University students who helped welcome new students to campus as orientation leaders during fall 2016 semester start-up activities.
DuChene is a junior in the nursing program at BSU, while Dalen is a senior majoring in mass communications.
Orientation leaders help ensure that all incoming freshmen and new transfer students have a successful first week on campus. They support and encourage new students as they begin their lives at Bemidji State.
Their duties include helping students find their assigned residence halls, giving campus tours, leading small-group activities and serving as positive role models and motivators.
BSU's orientation leaders are chosen in a competitive process that includes applications and in-person interviews.
