Twenty-six students from the Detroit Lakes High School Business Professionals of America Chapter competed against more than 200 other students in various competitions, including interview skills, banking and finance, human resource management, speech and other business- and computer-related events, at the Park Rapids Area High School on Jan. 22.
The top three places in judged events and the top five places in test events advance to the state contest.
The Detroit Lakes Business Professionals of America (BPA) Chapter brought home four individual first place awards, and an additional 29 other state-advancing awards. The chapter will send 22 students to compete at the Minnesota BPA State Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis in March.
In addition to the contests, junior Robert Blanchard was elected to be the 2020-2021 Minnesota BPA Region 6 President, while junior Kaleigh Reller was elected to be the 2020-2021 Region 6 Vice President.
The students were accompanied by Advisor Braeden Hogie.
