John Roger Jacobson, 30, of rural Audubon (the Cormorant area) was charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
According to court records, on June 18, a Becker County deputy saw a green motorcycle drive past him going 70 mph on County Road 5. The deputy activated his squad car lights and siren and the motorcycle driver, allegedly Jacobson, sped up to flee. The officer pursued until the motorcycle fled off-road and got away.
On July 10, a sheriff’s investigator talked to a concerned citizen, who said Jacobson told him he had run from the cops on a motorcycle, gotten away, then climbed 25 to 30 feet up in a tree and watched officers look for him. He was looking for help picking up his motorcycle.
Jacobson appeared in court July 18 before District Judge GretchenThilmony, who set cash bail at $500 or bond at $10,000, with standard conditions, or bond at $25,000 without conditions.
