The Becker County Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol were busy during WE Fest this year: Between July 31 and Aug. 4, there were 64 people arrested and booked into the Becker County Jail, compared to 60 people last year during the same time period, said Sheriff Todd Glander, who emphasized that not all of those were WE Fest-related arrests.

Monday, July 22
At 3:24 p.m. a Mongoose bicycle was reported stolen from the bike rack at the Detroit Lakes Community Center.
At 10:50 a.m. residents of an apartment building at 1107 West River Road in Detroit Lakes reported vehicles had been gone through overnight. Cash was missing from one vehicle, a gym bag was taken from another.
Tuesday, July 23
At 3:40 p.m., a trek bicycle was reported stolen from an unlocked garage on the 1400 block of Long Avenue. It has since been returned to its owner.
Friday, July 26
At 8:34 a.m. two minibikes were reported stolen from L&M Fleet in Detroit Lakes. The minibikes were store merchandise.
At 12:36 p.m. a cellphone was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Central Market.
Saturday, July 27
At 3:46 p.m., a seat was taken out of a boat parked on the 400 block of West Lake Drive.
Wednesday, July 31
At 9:10 a.m. a theft of a weed whacker from a shed was reported on Mission Road in rural Ogema. As the victim was talking to dispatch, someone brought the weed whacker back, so there was no need for an officer.
At 2:29 p.m. a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle was reported stolen from a storage locker off Highway 10, Lake Park. After several warnings, the motorcycle had been removed from storage for nonpayment of rent and left outside the unit.
Thursday, Aug. 1
At 12:49 a.m. portable toilets were set ablaze at Viking Campground at WE Fest.
At 2:19 a.m. a vehicle-bear collision was reported in Burlington Township. A gray 2007 Ford Explorer was damaged and the bear had to be put down.
At 2:56 a.m., a fire was reported at Becker County Road 34 and County Road 21. The White Earth Fire Department handled it.
At 8:40 a.m., a theft was reported in rural Waubun. Taken were two knives, van keys and a gold-colored cellphone with an Obama sticker on it.
At 2:03 p.m. the theft of a Beretta .22 long rifle semi-automatic rifle was reported from a vehicle parked in the Brandy Lake neighborhood. There is a suspect in the case.
At 2:55 p.m. a woman was arrested for theft at Oatfield Campground at WE Fest.
At 8:46 p.m. a fight was reported at Viking Campground at WE Fest. Several minor consumption citations were issued.
At 11:08 p.m. property damage was reported at Blue Ox campground. A man said people were throwing bottles and cans from Viking Campground that hit the side of his camper.
Friday, Aug. 2
At 12:25 a.m. a broken camper window was reported at the Blue Ox Campground at WE Fest. The parties involved worked it out among themselves.
At 12:34 a.m. a woman reported that two security guards slapped her on the butt on her way out of WE Fest. It was reported as sexual misconduct.
At 1:45 a.m. an electrical transformer blew out at Lake Sallie Campground, setting a tree on fire. About the same time a camper generator was reported on fire in the same area. Both fires were put out without incident.
At 10:48 a.m. the theft of a shed valued at $1,300, a tiller valued at $1,200-$1,500, a lawn mower, cast iron pots and a wood burning stove was reported on the 16000 block of County Road 38 in Wolf Lake Township. There is a suspect in the case.
At 11:28 a.m. a broken window was reported on a vehicle parked on the 800 block of Eighth Street in Detroit Lakes.
At 3:05 p.m. two tires were reported slashed on a camper in Viking Campground.
At 3:31 p.m. a substance believed to be drug-related was found in a portable toilet at WE Fest.
At 4:12 p.m. the theft of a pair of Air Buds was reported at Anytime Fitness.
At 5:18 p.m. the theft of a personal watercraft was reported sometimes over the past two weeks on the 900 block of South Shore Drive.
At 8:52 p.m. a disturbance between a man and a woman resulted in the man being arrested on a St. Louis County warrant.
At 9:17 p.m. a fire was reported at Blue Ox Campground, with lots of black smoke involved. WE Fest staff put out the fire.
At 11:06 p.m. the theft of a golf cart was reported by WE Fest security.
Saturday, Aug. 3
At 12:21 a.m. a fight involving mutual combatants was reported at WE Fest. The two men involved were intoxicated and were sent on their separate ways.
At 4:44 a.m. vandalism was reported at Viking Campground, with the rear window of a van smashed out using a trailer hitch taken from a nearby vehicle.
At 12:43 p.m. vandalism was reported to a vehicle that had been left unattended at Viking Campground, with the windshield cracked, the driver’s side mirror gone, body dents, and something put into the gas tank that caused the motor not to run.
At 12:56 p.m. the theft of bicycles involving juveniles was reported in Detroit Lakes. The stolen bikes were recovered.
At 1:24 p.m. a West Fargo man reported a lost wallet at WE Fest.
At 1:45 p.m. a possible employee theft was reported at WE Fest.
At 3:58 p.m. a female reported sexual misconduct that had occurred a week earlier at Camp Cormorant.
At 4:51 p.m. a golf cart was reported stolen at Viking Campground.
At 9:50 p.m. the theft of four-wheelers, a three-wheeler and a chain saw were reported from a storage container on County Road 21, Ogema.
At 10 p.m. a powerline was reported on fire near the food venders at the West Gate of WE Fest.
At 10:50 p.m. the theft of a cellphone was reported at Viking Campground.
At 11:09 p.m. a man was arrested after an assault was reported at WE Fest.
Sunday, Aug. 4
At 12:43 a.m. a sexual assault was reported at WE Fest.
At 8:59 p.m. the possible theft of a cellphone was reported at Walmart.
At 1:23 a.m. vandalism was reported at Blue Ox Campground, with the flange broken off a generator.
At 1:59 a.m. a fire was reported in a portable toilet at Viking Campground.
At 3:18 a.m. sexual misconduct was reported at Northwoods Campground, with a man undressing himself in public.
At 2:17 p.m. a theft was reported at WE Fest. A man had loaned his phone to someone, only to find that money had been transferred out of his phone’s cash application.
At 2:18 p.m. the theft of an Apple watch was reported at VIP Campground.
At 2:43 p.m. a motorbike was reported stolen on County Road 34 in Ogema.
At 5:16 p.m. an assault was reported at the Becker County Jail.
At 9:12 p.m. an ATV accident was reported at Northwoods Campground. One person involved injured an arm.
