Wildlife Movie: The Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting a screening of the movie "Wings of Life" at 2 p.m. Narrated by Meryl Streep, this intimate and unprecedented look at nature's pollinators — butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, bats and flowers — is a celebration of life. One-third of the world's food supply depends on these incredible creatures. Run time is approximately 80 minutes. Detroit Lakes Bowling Association: The Detroit Lakes Bowling Association will hold its 2018-19 organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Voyageur Lanes (1377 West Lake Drive). The purpose of the meeting is to finalize the merger of the men and women's associations, elect officers, select the board of directors and approve the bylaws. Please attend and spread the word!

Brown Bag Lunch: The Becker County Museum will host its July Brown Bag Lunch presentation, "Preserving History: Cemetery Indexing," with special guest Shirley Spry, starting at noon. Explore the World of Birds: In conjunction with its Summer Reading Program, the Detroit Lakes Public Library will host a special presentation, "Explore the World of Birds," starting at 2 p.m in the library's main meeting room. Staff from the Tamarac Wildlife Refuge will help attendees learn more about how to to identify local birds by sight and sound; get tips for becoming a backyard bird watcher; and hear the story of a special bird that's disappearing in Minnesota, the golden-winged warbler. Summer Salad Luncheon: First Lutheran Church, located at 912 Lake Ave. in Detroit Lakes, will host a Summer Salad Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door; admission is $8 for adults or $5 for children are 10 and under. All are welcome.

Tuesdays in the Park: Every Tuesday from June through August, Habitat for Humanity will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, beans, potato salad and beverages in the Detroit Lakes City Park from 6 to 7 p.m. Following the meal, live music begins at 7 p.m. and lasts for approximately an hour, though some performers do continue to play a little later into the evening. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, as bench seating is limited. In case of inclement weather, both the picnic and the concert will be moved inside the Pavilion.
Wild Wednesdays: Explore the world of nature with your child during this hour long adventure geared for 3-7 year olds. Plant, Pest & Gardening Clinics: The Becker County Master Gardeners will once again be hosting their Plant, Pest & Gardening Clinics throughout the month of June at the local University of Minnesota Extension office, 1120 Eighth St. SE, Detroit Lakes. Detroit Lakes Area Pickleball: The outdoor pickleball courts at Peoples Park in Detroit Lakes are now open for the season. Everyone is welcome to use one of the five outdoor courts, which are located just behind Zorbaz. They will be open to the public 24 hours a day, but scheduled play will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday through Saturday, as well as on Monday and Thursday evenings starting at 7 p.m. All skill levels welcome.
