Cupcakes with the Easter Bunny: Kids age 12 and under are invited to bring their parents down to the Washington Square Mall between 9:30-11 a.m. and enjoy decorating some cupcakes with the Easter Bunny himself! Free and open to the public.

Scavenger and Egg Hunt: There will be an Easter egg and scavenger hunt at the Lake Park City Park, starting at 10:30 a.m. This event is part of Week of the Young Child festivities, April 7-13. Free and open to the public.

Homemade Donut Sale: The ladies of Lund Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes will be making fresh donuts for sale from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. You can purchase a donut and coffee or buy a box of donuts at a cost of $5 per dozen. Large orders can be reserved in advance by calling 218-847-9662. Lund Lutheran Church is located 9 miles north of Detroit Lakes on Richwood Road.

Brain Injury Workshop: Have you, or do you know someone who has had a concussion? Please join the Brain Injury Collaborative of West Central Minnesota for an informative, free workshop to learn more about "The Invisible Injury" from 10 a.m. to noon at the YMCA in Fergus Falls. Featured presenters will include Dr. David Stussy, a lifelong student of health, philosophy, and the brain who has helped many people recover from concussions and other injuries; and Dr. Zena Xanders, who specializes in chiropractic care for women and children, and is also certified in acupuncture. Lions Bowling Blast: The Detroit Lakes Lions will host an evening of bowling fun at Voyageur Lanes, 1377 West Lake Drive, starting at 5 and 7 p.m. Cost for entering a four-person team is $100; to be eligible for the trophy competition, at least one of the four must be of the opposite gender. First game is moonlight bowling; second game, eight pin no-tap; third game, Scotch doubles. Bowling prizes, drawings and more will also be part of the evening's festivities. Dirt Bag Ball: The Detroit Mountain Ski Patrol is hosting its annual Dirt Bag Ball fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m., featuring live music from Matt Aakre, at the DMRA Lodge. Popovich Comedy Pet Theater: The Historic Holmes Theatre is excited to bring Gregory Popovich and his amazing performing pets to Detroit Lakes for a 3 p.m. show. The Popovich Comedy Pet Theater is entertainment for the whole family, featuring the unique blend of comedy and juggling skills of former Moscow Circus veteran Gregory Popovich and the extraordinary talents of his cast of world-class jugglers, Diamond the Shetland Pony and over 30 performing pets. Ham Bingo: The Callaway Lions Club will host a fun evening of "Ham Bingo," featuring "bone-in" hams as prizes, starting at 7 p.m. in the Callaway Community Center. Proceeds go to support community projects.

Tuesday, April 16

Old-Time Variety Dance: Eric's Dance Band will provide the music for an Old-Time Variety Dance, set to take place from 1-4 p.m. at the White Pine Room in Frazee. A potluck supper will follow the dance. Admission is $5 per person.

Library Book Club: The Detroit Lakes Public Library's book club will meet at 3 p.m. in the library's main meeting room to discuss the book "Betty Ford" by Lisa McCubbin, an inspiring biography of an ordinary Midwestern girl who found herself on the world stage under extraordinary circumstances. Brown Bag Lunch: The Becker County Museum will host a special Brown Bag Lunch presentation featuring author Eric Bergeson, who will discuss his latest book, "Successful Gardening on the Northern Prairie." Fish Hatchery Tour: The staff of the Becker County Museum is hosting a guided tour of the fish hatchery at Dunton Locks, operated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tour participants will meet at the museum (714 Summit Ave.) before heading out to the fish hatchery for the afternoon. This April Family Day event is being offered free of charge, but pre-registration is required as space is limited. Those who signed up for the originally scheduled date on April 13 do not need to sign up again; however, if you are unable to make it for the new date, please call to cancel. To sign up, please call the museum at 218-847-2938 anytime during its regular hours, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Wildlife Movie: A free screening of the movie, "Great Yellowstone Thaw: Part 2," will take place at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Spring in Yellowstone brings new life and a break from the brutal temperatures of winter. But the dangers aren't over. The wildlife families now face a torrent of water cascading down the mountains as the Great Thaw gets underway, and the beavers are in particular danger. Watch their story unfold in this 50-minute film. The Visitor Center is located 9 miles north of State Highway 34, at the junction of Becker County Highways 26 and 29. Lake Park-Audubon NHS Blood Drive: The Lake Park-Audubon chapter of the National Honor Society will host a Spring Blood Drive at the LP-A High School Theatre in Lake Park from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Each blood donation can help multiple patients such as preemies, surgery patients and cancer patients. ABE Orientation: Detroit Lakes Adult Basic Education is offering a two-day orientation for those wanting to enroll in GED or Adult Diploma classes. Orientation dates are April 17-18. Prior to Orientation, students are required to complete ABE Enrollment paperwork.This should take about 90 minutes. Detroit Lakes Area Pickleball: Open pickleball play will take place every Monday through Friday, 8:30-11 a.m., at the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center. Two to four courts are available depending on gym and school schedules. All skill levels are welcome; all equipment provided. Wear good quality court shoes. Lakes Area Adoption Support: Lakes Area Adoption Support is an adoption support group for anyone who has adopted or who is in the process of adoption. We meet the last Tuesday of each month at the Audubon Elementary School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Childcare available.

Overeaters Anonymous: Two local chapters of Overeaters Anonymous, a 12-step food addiction recovery program, meet weekly in Detroit Lakes: One group meets on Sundays at 6 p.m. in Community Alliance Church, while the other meets on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church. Mom's Morning Out: A Mom's Morning Out meeting is held every Thursday morning, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at La Barista in the Washington Square Mall. You and your little one are invited to come visit with other breastfeeding moms and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or tea. A breastfeeding and infant care expert will be present to answer questions. Birthing class: Essentia Health St. Mary's hosts childbirth preparation classes for expectant mothers in their sixth to seventh month of pregnancy. Topics include Labor & Delivery, Cesarean Birth, Role of the Labor Companion, Newborn Care, Unexpected Outcomes, Breast & Bottle Feeding, Postpartum Period, Breathing Patterns & Relaxation Techniques. L.A. Moms group: Lakes Area (L.A.) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A. Community Alliance Church programs: Community Alliance Church, Detroit Lakes, hosts Quilting for Missions Mondays at 9:30 a.m.; The first Tuesday of every month is High Mileage (suggested ages 55 and up), which meets for "pot-blessing" meal at noon, followed by special music and a Bible nugget.

Bone Builders: An exercise class for seniors called "Bone Builders" is being held at 405 W. Maple Ave. in Frazee, Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m.; the Lake Park City Center every Tuesday and Friday at 10:15 a.m.; and also at the Vergas Event Center, Thursdays at 9:30.a.m. The group focuses on low-impact and balance exercises.

Alzheimer's Support Group: Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. in the Yoga Studio at Ecumen Detroit Lakes.

Dunvilla Lions Club: The Dunvilla Lions Club will meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Dunn Township Hall.

The Caring Cup: Every second and last Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., community members who are dealing with the loss of a loved one meet at the David-Donehower Funeral Home for friendship, support and encouragement. The free program is open to the public, no registration necessary.

Women's Domestic Violence Education Support Group: Lakes Crisis & Resource Center hosts a Women's Domestic Violence Education Support Group every Wednesday from 5:30—6:30 p.m. in the crisis center. Call to pre-register at 218-847-8572 or 218-847-7446. Childcare is available upon request.

Rummikub, more games: Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., come to Holy Rosary fireplace room for coffee, desserts and a game of cards, board games or Rummikub. Everyone is welcome.

BC Senior Meals: Meals for persons 60 and older are served several times each week at nutrition sites in Detroit Lakes, Lake Park, Osage and Wolf Lake or can be delivered directly to homes in these communities, Frazee and Callaway, via the Meals on Wheels program. One-day advance notice of attendance is required at many sites. Lakes Area Quilt Guild: The Lakes Area Quilt Guild meets every 4th Thursday at 7 pm at Ecumen in Detroit Lakes, Emmanuel Nursing Home in the Forest Conference Center. Check us out on Facebook! All levels of quilters, new and experienced are welcome to attend.

Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Call Annie at 218-847-5628 ext. 5419 to make an appointment. This one screening will provide your child the requirements for Early Childhood Screening. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.

Senior Center Activities: The DL Senior Citizens Center has activities all month long. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. is Pinochle; at 1 p.m. there will be 500 and other games. Whist is played on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The third Wednesday of each month will be a celebration of birthdays for the month. The second Monday of each month there will be a Site Council meeting at 11 a.m. For more information, call 847-5823.

Bingo for DL Hockey: The DL Youth Hockey organization holds Bingo every Sunday at Zorbaz in support of youth hockey in Detroit Lakes. All are welcome; Bingo starts at 6 p.m.

Men's lunch, bridge club: Men's lunch and bridge club meets every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Holiday Inn. Call (701) 388-4329 if you are interested in playing.
