Jonathan Dean Bloom, 17, of Detroit Lakes, was charged in Becker County Juvenile Court with felony first-degree aggravated robbery.
According to court records, about 6:30 p.m. on July 12, a young person and a third party were riding their bikes by the Detroit Lakes Middle School when they encountered Bloom and rode over to talk to him.
Bloom allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded money. Afraid of being stabbed, the victim handed over $60. Bloom ran away. The victim and third party chased him. He turned around and showed them the knife again, so they let him go. They knew Bloom's address and police found him there. He initially denied being involved, then allegedly admitted he stole marijuana from the victim.
Bloom was released to the care of a family member, with conditions that include no drugs or alcohol, no weapons and no contact with the victim. His next court appearance is July 30.
