Frieda Marie Keezer was born to William and Rose Marie (Armstrong) Keezer on Sept. 15, 1924, while they were working at a ricing camp near Rice Lake, Minn. She grew up in Elbow Lake Village, and attended White Earth Mission School. Frieda later attended Wahpeton Boarding School in Wahpeton, N.D.

On Dec. 18, 1946, Frieda married Alvin LaGue in Mahnomen. They made their home in Elbow Lake Village, where they raised their family. For a short time in the 1960s, Frieda worked as a seamstress in Naytahwaush. Alvin died June 29, 2002, and she remained at their home in Elbow Lake Village with their daughter, Carol. On June 29, 2006, Frieda had entered the Mahnomen Health Center.

Frieda had many hobbies that kept her busy. Some of those included beading, reading, putting together puzzles and tending to her flower gardens. She also liked watching TV game shows as well as collecting antique glassware and other treasures she may have picked up at a garage sale.

Frieda was well known for her seamstress skills and cooking abilities, and therefore spent much of her time sewing and cooking. Many people would bring things over for repairs and alterations, and couldn't wait for her to bake some homemade bread, especially her fry bread. Even with all these things to keep her busy, Frieda cherished most of all being a grandmother, taking care of her grandchildren and spending as much time as she could with friends and family.

Frieda is survived by two sons, Gary, Sr., and Anthony, Sr., both of Waubun; two daughters, Carol LaGue of Waubun and Judy (Darell) Conklin of International Falls, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; son Dale LaGue (1994); four sisters, Cynthia Lofthus, Leoba Keezer, Patricia Lopez and Bernice Keezer; and five brothers, Delvin, Jerry, Ellsworth, Selem and Melvin Keezer.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 17, at Elbow Lake Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake Village, with the Rev. Paul Larson officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Donny LaGue, Anthony "Buddy" LaGue, Jr., Gary LaGue, Jr., Dennis "Butch" Tibbetts, Shane LaGue, Benjamin LaGue, Jamie Hawks, Michael Rousu and Zachary Rousu. Burial was in the Vernon Anderson Memorial Cemetery, rural Waubun.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen and Winger, Minn.
