Spc. Joshua D. Peterson of the North Dakota Army National Guard completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., on Aug. 6, 2009 and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Norfolk, Va., on Sept. 4, 2009. He attended the course of 42R-Saxophone Player and was a member of the 188th Army Band in Fargo.

In civilian life Spc. Peterson has plans to return to college at North Dakota State University to obtain a degree in Music Education.

He is a 2005 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School in Detroit Lakes. His parents are David and Joy Peterson of Detroit Lakes. His brother, Daniel Peterson, is also a member of the N.D. Army National Guard.
