A Frazee man suffered non-life-threatening injuries Sunday afternoon when he accidentally shot himself in the leg.
According to the Becker County Sheriff's Office, Lloyd Theodore Bertek, 60, of Frazee, was reportedly attempting to "de-cock" the hammer on the pistol when it went off, striking him in the left leg. Bertek was transported to Essentia St. Mary's Hospital by St. Mary's EMS, and was later flown to a Fargo hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Bertek's current condition is not known at this time. The injuries appeared to be consistent with an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound and the event is no longer under investigation.
The accident was reported via a 911 emergency call shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday. Emergency personnel from St. Mary's EMS, Frazee Rescue, Becker County Sheriff's Office and Sanford AirMed assisted with the incident.
