Victim, 18, identified in fatal crash near Park Rapids
NEVIS — An 18-year-old passenger killed in a vehicle-tractor crash east of Nevis July 5 has been identified.
Anneka Elizabeth Davis of Nevis died in White Oak Township when an eastbound 1989 Chevrolet Caprice driven by an unidentified 17-year-old male collided with a westbound farm tractor pulling a haybine, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The crash occurred at 11:22 a.m. on 190th Street at 335th Avenue. The Caprice went into the ditch and rolled, the State Patrol said.
Davis was not wearing a seat belt.
Another passenger in the car, James Anthony Geschwill, 19, of Akeley was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo with injuries that were not life-threatening. Geschwill was not wearing a seat belt during the accident.
No injury information about the Chevy's juvenile driver was released, but he was not transported to a medical facility. However, the driver was wearing a seat belt.
Uninjured was Mark Lee Gunkel, 55, of Akeley, who was driving a 1960 Farmall 460 tractor pulling a 1960 Holland 488 haybine.
Nevis is about 12 miles east of Park Rapids.
