Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday near Snellman in Becker County.
According to the State Patrol, a 2014 Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on Highway 34 near Becker County Road 39. A 2001 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling south from a private driveway onto Highway 34 when the vehicles collided on the highway. Snellman is about 22 miles east of Detroit Lakes.
All four people in the Impala suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes.
The driver was Michael William John Even, 59 of Detroit Lakes. Passengers were Beverly Anne Even, 59, and Matthew Michael Even, 34, both of Detroit Lakes, and Jordanne Leigh Hartman, 31, of Cloquet, MN. The airbag deployed and all four were wearing seatbelts.
No injuries were reported in the Suburban, which was driven by Winona Helena LaDuke, 60, of Ponsford.
LaDuke is a writer and activist whose works is published occasionally in the Tribune.
Passengers were Animikiins Annmarie Martin, 3, of Detroit Lakes, Ashley Lee Martin, 31, of Detroit Lakes and Waasmoan Rose Neeland, 13, of Detroit Lakes. All were wearing seatbelts, according to the State Patrol. The airbag did not deploy in the Suburban.
The crash was reported at 4:18 p.m. on dry pavement. No alcohol was involved. The Becker County Sheriff’s Office and St. Mary’s EMS assisted at the scene.
