A car and an SUV were in a T-bone accident on Highway 10 and North Shore Drive at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, Detroit Lakes Police Chief Steve Todd said.

"One vehicle (the car) was pulling from North Shore onto Highway 10. The second vehicle (the SUV) was eastbound on Highway 10, and the front of the (SUV) ... struck the driver's side of (the car) trying to enter Highway 10," he explained.

The driver of the car was a 25-year-old female. The SUV driver was a 59-year-old female. Both were taken by ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Mary's for non-life-threatening injuries, Todd said.

The accident was cleared within about half an hour, Todd said. There were multiple agencies on scene, including Detroit Lakes police, the Becker County Sheriff's Office, the Detroit Lakes Fire Department and Essentia Health-St. Mary's EMS. A tow truck was also at the scene to remove the vehicles.

"We're just coming into one of the busier travel days of the year: Thanksgiving," Todd said. "Reduce speeds if the roads are slipperier, buckle up and keep your headlights on during inclement weather."
