A rural Audubon woman was injured late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1, when her snowmobile was struck by a pickup truck while she was crossing a road near Big Cormorant Lake.
Andrea Sell, 50, of rural Audubon suffered a possible broken leg and back injuries, according to the preliminary call for service at the Becker County Sheriff’s Office. She was taken to Essentia Health St. Mary's hospital in Detroit Lakes.
The driver of the black 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck was Glen Erickson, 64, of rural Detroit Lakes.
Sell told authorities that she looked both ways before crossing Becker County Road 5, east to west, near Tosten Erickson Lane, in the vicinity of Big Cormorant and Middle Cormorant lakes, and she didn't see the pickup truck. She was driving a 2013 Polaris snowmobile.
Erickson said he didn’t have time to stop and couldn't go into the ditch, because it was full of other snowmobilers. The accident was reported about 5:30 p.m.
