Amanda Adkins, Detroit Lakes, is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council and the University of Minnesota-Crookston. Adkins will be studying Agricultural, Food and Environmental Education at the University of Minnesota-Crookston starting in September.
Believing that education is the key to a successful future, MAELC is awarding a total of $25,000 to incoming and current students with plans to study Agricultural, Food and Environmental Education at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and the University of Minnesota - Crookston.
Over the past five years, MAELC has awarded over $140,000 in scholarships to agricultural education students. "We are excited to welcome Amanda into our agricultural education family in Minnesota," said Julie Tesch, MAELC Executive Director. "MAELC feels that by offering these scholarships we can attract high caliber students into our agricultural education profession. This is proven by having Amanda in our program."
Established in 1997 by the Minnesota Legislature, MAELC is comprised of sixteen educators, legislators, government officials, and agribusiness and community organization representatives. The Council represents all of the major institutions and groups in Minnesota with an interest in agricultural education.
