Thanks to a fresh infusion of funds, the Circle of Life School will be able to continue its 2006 White Earth Reservation Science and Math Summer Program. This is the eighth year that the Circle of Life School, serving White Earth students from kindergarten through high school, is offering the summer science and math program with the University of Minnesota.

Some 30 to 50 students in grades five to eight from the Circle of Life, Mahnomen, Naytahwaush and Pine Point schools will learn about science and math in classes that also combine Anishinaabe culture and traditions relating to natural resources, nutrition and gardening June 5-30. Classes will be taught by Circle of Life and University of Minnesota instructors and White Earth Reservation Natural Resources managers.

The Board also contributed funds to the White Earth Veteran's Association and the Ogema Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9880 for purchase of a ceremonial bugle that will be used at funerals for the "Taps" farewell tribute to deceased veterans. The Ogema VFW Post 9880 provides services for funerals and Memorial Day for departed veterans at 10 cemeteries in locations including White Earth, Callaway, Ogema, Waubun and Lake Grove.
