On Nov. 17, the American Legion and Auxiliary hosted their 45th annual Teachers Tea, celebrating American Education Week.
The theme for Education Week was Great Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.”
All current and retired public and parochial school personnel were invited. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 15 served a light lunch and cake. Ninety-six school personnel, including two first-year teachers, signed the guestbook.
Ton Frank, post service officer, was the emcee for the event. After American Legion Auxiliary President Ceil Sundstrom and Frank welcomed on behalf of Commander Eric Wilkens (who was teaching his class at M State DL), Frank did a roll call of all schools.
Each school was announced and both current and retired personnel were recognized. Frank also informed the group of the many children and youth activities that the Legion sponsors.
