Aquila, Inc. is providing more funds for the Aquila Cares program to assist customers affected by higher energy prices.

The company has donated $125,000, bringing their contribution to $625,000. The total program impact is $1 million, including customer, employee and company contributions.

Aquila Cares helps individuals in Aquila communities, including Detroit Lakes and Becker County, to pay energy bills and emergency repairs.

Aquila is matching customer and employee contributions to Aquila Cares. Also, Aquila donated an additional $250,000.

There is a checkbox on customers' bills that allows them to donate a monthly amount to Aquila Cares. Donations can also be made by calling 1-800-303-0752, or sending a check to Aquila Cares, P.O. Box 11975, Kansas City, MO 64138.

Aquila launched a Round Up program for customers to round up their bills to the next higher dollar as a contribution.

In Minnesota, HeatShare is administered by the Salvation Army.
