The Grand Opening of the new Gizhiigin Arts Accelerator in Mahnomen is set for this Friday, Jan. 30.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at noon, followed by a community luncheon.
Gizhiigin is located at 202 Main Avenue in Mahnomen, on the southeast corner of Madison and Main, next to the Boys and Girls Club, and the GED testing center.
Gizhiigin is an artistic business accelerator, focusing on growing local entrepreneurs.
The have a limited café for artists offering Wi-Fi access, comfortable seating, coffee, tea, soda, and snacks, however it is primarily the home for a new Art Acceleration program.

The program will host six local artists for a period of six months, during which, we offer an array of business and financial services, skills training, studio space, art supplies, and computer, software, and printer access.
Gizhiigin will lead participating artists through an action based learning curriculum focused on the arts and entrepreneurship, including topics of marketing, merchandising, product development, business plan writing, web page development, creating and building a portfolio, and more.
The program will involve multiple skill-building workshops led by local and nationally known artists, entrepreneurs, and business professionals, all with the goal of complementing our talented local artists with entrepreneurial skills and support for furthering their own artisanal career and economic empowerment.
