GRANITE FALLS, Minn. - Law enforcement authorities in Yellow Medicine County are searching for a man they say is connected to a Monday morning homicide in Granite Falls in west central Minnesota. Authorities say Andrew Joseph Dikken, 28, should not be approached as he may be armed and dangerous. Dikken is believed to be driving a 1996 brown GMC Sierra club cab pickup with a topper and Minnesota license number 032-GGL. Yellow Medicine County Sheriff Bill Flaten asked the public to call the Granite Falls Police Department, Yellow Medicine Sheriff’s Office or call 911 to report any information about Dikken.
Granite Falls Police responded to a 911 call at 3:30 a.m. Monday and found a 28-year-old woman dead of apparent gunshot wounds and a critically injured 28-year-old man. The man was transported to Granite Falls Hospital by ambulance and later transported by air to Hennepin County Medical Center. During the preliminary investigation, Dikken was identified as a person of interest. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting Granite Falls Police and the sheriff’s office in the investigation. Flaten said everybody involved in the investigation is a little tired. “It’s a lot for a couple of small agencies to take on, so we’re glad to have the help of everybody that’s been here to help,’’ Flaten said. He believes the police department will release the names of the victims sometime today.
